The encounter
In 1978, five childhood friends were walking along an old railway line in Newtongrange, Midlothian, when they encountered a three-foot-tall creature with bright yellow eyes, greenish-brown skin and no visible mouth. The being communicated telepathically, telling the children not to be afraid.
The friends later found themselves in a nearby field with no memory of how they arrived there. The encounter left lasting psychological effects. Anne has experienced night terrors for more than 40 years and suspects they may be connected to time spent aboard a UFO. The group remained silent for decades through fear of ridicule. Pamela and Mary also supplied recorded accounts of their memories for this episode.
